Care and maintenance guidelines for mattresses
To have a great restful sleep, Cantori’s beds and furnishings are a must, but you should as well focus on the choice of a top-quality mattress, and its proper maintenance.
First of all the mattress should be changed after 7-10 years.
For a correct back alignment, new mattresses should be rotated, on average, every 3 months.
For proper cleaning, if the mattress has a removable cover, it should be removed and machine-washed. Airing the mattress and letting it breath is a great way to take care of it, remove dust and prevent dust mites. If the mattress does not have a removable cover, you can always use natural, homemade remedies. First: vacuum the mattress at a low speed to gather any dust which may have accumulated on it, then, if fresh air is not enough to neutralize odours, sprinkle the mattress with baking soda, leave for 24 hours and then vacuum. Note however, that this ‘dry’ cleaning method won’t really clean any stains. The “wet cleaning” is then recommended when there are stains to remove. Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a bottle of water and gently brush with a damp cloth: the mattress shouldn’t get too wet and you must let it dry completely. This method is useful to remove slight stains: it whitens and freshens yellowed fabric.
To remove particularly stubborn stains - coffee, tea or make up stains - you can use a mixture of lemon juice and vinegar. Use a spray bottle, fill it with warm water and add a third of a cup of lemon juice and half a cup of vinegar. Spray directly on the stain and rub with a microfiber cloth, until the stain has been completely removed.
Once the mattress is completely dry, you can add a nice fresh scent pouring directly on it about 5 drops of tea tree oil: it will freshen and deodorize the fabric, and it’s a great repellent for dust mites
