How to warm up these cold winter days

In these cold days, where you have little desire to go out, the fireplace and a hot chocolate are our best allies, here is a simple and tasty recipe to make a cold afternoon sweeter.

Hot chocolate spiced with cinnamon and ginger recipe


  • 150 ml of whole milk
  • 50 g of dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons of potato starch
  • 2 tablespoons of bitter cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • nutmeg
  • powdered ginger
  • marshmallow or whipped cream
  • cinnamon sticks

Difficulty: Easy

Cooking: 5 minutes

Preparation: 2 minutes

In a bowl, mix the potato starch with the sifted cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg and a pinch of ginger.

Pour the milk slowly and mix with a whisk to prevent lumps. Transfer the chocolate in a saucepan and add the bitter chocolate: put the saucepan on the stove and stir constantly with a wooden spoon.

Let the chocolate melt completely and let the chocolate simmer for a few minutes: the longer you leave it on the heat, the thicker it will become. When it has reached the desired consistency, pour it into a cup: put in each cup a cinnamon stick and add a marshmallow or fresh whipped cream. Finish off with a sprinkling of cinnamon!

A cup of thick, creamy hot chocolate is all you need to warm up the coldest of winter afternoons. And if you add some spice, its taste will be even more magical and unique!
